Sitting: The Silent Killer
Leading a sedentary lifestyle can be extremely harmful to overall health, with recent studies continuing to show the harmful effects of inactivity. The way that the majority of Americans live their lives these days has led to an increase in the amount of people suffering from obesity. More Americans than ever before are sitting all day, riding in cars, and watching television for hours instead of spending any time moving and being active.
These tendencies have contributed to more incidences of heart disease, joint problems, and other chronic conditions that are related to lack of strenuous activity. Over time, the amount of sitting you do could slowly be killing you over time. In order to take back your physicality, it is important to minimize the amount of sitting time every day and strive to get fit for optimal health.
The bottom line remains that there are no shortcuts or quick fixes to being healthy in every way. At a minimum, physical activity should be on the agenda for at least 5 times a week, 30 minutes a day. These are the bare minimum numbers needed to affect your body and stave of chronic diseases that plague us as we age. In these modern times, it is becoming more difficult to find the time to workout and concentrate on maintaining healthy bodies, but it is necessary to find a place and time to regularly do so. If you are like most people and live in suburbs and find it difficult to engage in physical activity, use your surroundings to elevate your health by hiking in nearby trails or playing with your pets in an adjacent park or recreational center. Find a way to your own path to effectively transform your health for the better.
